There is also a dedicated function room for events and activities, 3 sitting rooms, 3 dining rooms and a selection of other seating areas where residents can sit quietly with a good book, or indulge in a friendly chat. The entire house is double glazed and centrally heated for optimum comfort year round, and all rooms are fitted with call buttons, smoke detectors and fire alarms. There is WiFi internet access throughout the home and all residents’ own rooms have their own modern televisions with Freeview, together with telephone points to connect own phones if desired.

The Gardens at Down Hall

Down Hall has the advantage of an idyllic rural location, with ample peace and quiet and beautiful countryside views.

Most rooms afford views of Down Hall’s attractive landscaped gardens, which themselves offer ample seating and tables for residents and their guests to enjoy meals or a cup of tea al fresco, providing the weather allows of course.

In 2018 a new sensory garden was completed, which uses features such as sights and smells to stimulate the senses to get our residents engaging with nature and the outside.  A herb garden where rosemary and thyme are grown, and lavender is featured as well.  Green fingered residents also have the opportunity to grow their own vegetables on our allotment plot which has been designed with raised sleeper beds for easy access.

Dining at Down Hall

A home-cooked meal prepared with fresh produce purchased daily is the order of the day at Down Hall. Menus are carefully planned and special dietary needs well catered for, as are personal tastes. Residents may eat where the mood takes them, and meal times are flexible. Drinks and light snacks are served mid-morning and afternoon, and on request if needed.

Security at Down Hall

All rooms at Down Hall have smoke detectors and call points for immediate assistance. We have efficient systems in place to evacuate everyone in the unlikely event that it becomes necessary and both the Essex County Fire Brigade and the CQC makes regular inspections to check their rigorous standards.

We also ensure there are ample staff on duty to provide the highest standards of care 24 hours a day. Down Hall’s manager is supported by a deputy manager, shift leaders, care assistants, catering and domestic staff plus our own in-house maintenance manager who ensures everything is working as it should be at all times. Everyone plays an equally important role in maintaining the quality of accommodation and care we demand.

About our fees

At Down Hall we always aim to keep our fees as competitive as possible, bearing in mind the high standards we are committed to maintaining. We ask that fees are paid monthly in advance. They include full board accommodation, use of all the facilities, laundry services, free entry to community events and 24 hour care as required.

Residents only need to provide their own clothing and toiletries together with any extras that make them feel more at home, such as a telephone or tablet computer so they can take advantage of our WiFi throughout the home. If desired, own furniture can be brought in for a more familiar, homely feel.

Fees are reviewed on a regular basis, so please get in touch for our current list together with a copy of our current terms and conditions.
